AIM MRO Holdings on Tuesday said it has acquired Tribologix, a provider of surface engineering solutions used in extreme environments by aerospace, defense and energy customers, in a deal that adds new capabilities to AIM MRO and marks its first acquisition since becoming a portfolio company of the private equity firm AE Industrial Partners
in 2019.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
AIM MRO, which is based in Ohio, is a manufacturer and supply chain manger of highly engineered consumable repair products and materials primarily for the aerospace aftermarket. The company has maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities worldwide.
Tribologix makes surface coatings that reduce friction and wear for aerospace and defense products including space applications in orbit and on other planets. The company is based in Colorado and its president and CEO, Ben Ehrens, will remain as a consultant.
Some of Tribologix’s customers include L3Harris Technologies [LHX], the Air Force, NASA and Rolls-Royce.
“Tribologix’s high-tech, cutting-edge coatings and extensive testing have made it a trusted name in surface engineering for extreme environment applications, where the elimination of friction and wear is a mission-critical factor for non-serviceable mechanical components,” Scott Wandtke, CEO of AIM MRO, said in a statement. “We’re excited to add these products to our suite of state-of-the-art offerings.”
