The Air Force awarded the Royal Jordanian Air Academy a $370.8 million firm-fixed-price contract Aug. 7 to provide Type I special training for English language and technical aviation training for Iraqi Air Force technical personnel, according to a Defense Department statement.
Air Force spokeswoman Dianne Moffett said Friday in an emailed response to questions the training provides generic English and technical skills, which include aircraft maintenance, avionics, air traffic control and weather. Moffett also said the goal of the training is to provide the fundamental skills required to work on, and with, technical systems in English.
Moffett said technical aviation training is contractor-provided training to teach the basic technical skill required by the Iraqi Air Force and that Type I special training is training conducted by a contractor.
Training is scheduled to complete by Aug. 8, 2013, according to a statement. Moffett said the contract is not covered by Foreign Military Sales statutes.
