Air Force Deactivates, Realigns HQ, Major Commands

The Air Force is deactivating and realigning organizations at headquarters Air Force, major commands, numbered air forces and field operating agencies, with a goal of saving $1.6 billion across the Air Force over the next five years, according to a service statement. Known as the Air Force Management Headquarters Review, the changes are a result of an effort to reduce overhead costs, increase efficiencies, eliminate redundant activities and improve effectiveness and business processes.
