An Airbus Group A400M aircraft crashed near the Sevilla, Spain airport on Saturday, killing four of six crew members.
The aircraft, serial number MSN023, was making its first production flight and departed from Sevilla Airport at 12:45 pm local time, crashing around 1:00pm local time.
“An Airbus Group go-team of technical advisers is being dispatched to provide full assistance to the official committee in charge of the investigation,” the company said in a statement.
“Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected by this tragic accident and we are providing all our care and support.”
This was planned to be the third of 10 A400Ms produced for Turkey, with formal delivery scheduled for June 2015. Turkey ordered the aircraft in 2003. The first two aircraft were delivered in 2014 and two more were due this year. The final units are due 2018.
Airbus has an assembly and test site for transport aircraft in Spain.
The A400M is a military transport aircraft, first launched in 2003 for the combined needs of Belgium, France, Germany, Luxemburg, Spain, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. Malaysia joined in 2005.
The first A400M flight was in December 2009.
