Alenia North America this week changed its name to Alenia Aermacchi North America, reflecting a change in the name of its parent company, Alenia Aermacchi, which was formerly Alenia Aeronautica.

Alenia Aeronautica changed its name following a merger between it and Alenia Aermacchi’s aeronautics brands. Both companies are part of Italy’s Finmeccanica Group.

Alenia North America’s provides the C-27J cargo aircraft to the Air Force and the G222 multi-mission, medium transport aircraft that is purchased by the Air Force for use by the Afghanistan air force. The company plants to bid the T-100 Integrated Training System, a variant of Alenia Aermacchi’s M-346, for the Air Force’s T-X Advanced Pilot Training Family of Systems competition.
