Anduril Industries on Thursday unveiled its latest product, Anvil-M, a munitions variant of its Anvil interceptor drone that destroys enemy unmanned aircraft systems by detonating near them.

The Anvil-M can defeat Group 1 and 2 drones, which weigh up to 20 pounds and 55 pounds, respectively. These drones typically operate not far from their operators who use them for intelligence, surveillance, strike, and damage assessment missions.

The new product in Anduril’s counter-drone arsenal includes a fire control module that detonates its munitions payload near an adversary’s drone. Anvil-M was developed based on feedback from customers operating in combat environments “to more reliably and effectively engage and defeat higher-end, faster moving Group 2 threats,” Anduril said.

The Anvil-M has conducted multiple live-fire field evaluations, including with government partners, part of Anduril’s operating model to test its products with partners to constant efforts to test its capabilities with partners to glean lessons and enhance its products.

Anduril’s original Anvil defeats drones by crashing into them in the air.

Anvil and Anvil-M are both low-collateral rotary wing drones that can be integrated into a “launch box” for autonomous intercept. The counter-drone systems provide visual feedback to a human-in-the-loop for positive identification of threats. The launch box that can be located on a base for around-the-clock remote launch cued by Anduril’s Lattice command and control software platform.
