Research and engineering company Applied Research Associates (ARA) said on June 1 that it has acquired BerrieHill Research Corporation (BRC), adding new capabilities in electromagnetics.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
BRC, which is based in Dayton, Ohio, has 60 employees. The company provides services in the areas of computational electromagnetic simulations, radio frequency materials synthesis and measurement, sensor data acquisition and processing, and hardware and software programming, and for antennas and radomes.
“Bringing BRC technologies into ARA opens the door to many new opportunities for the combined organization,” Dr. Frank Maestas, ARA’s executive vice president, said in a statement. “ARA customers that have needs for advanced electromagnetic-based technologies will now have access through ARA. In addition, ARA gains access to BRC’s deep expertise associated with special programs. Both organizations are expert integrators of high-technology physics and engineering into compelling software/hardware applications and share a common culture of responsiveness and excellence.”
Maestas told sister publication Defense Daily via email that neither company used financial advisors on the transaction. The two companies partnered for the past two years.
The BRC deal follows the acquisition in late April by ARA of Neya Systems, LLC, which develops unmanned systems technologies for defense, homeland security and commercial customers. That deal complemented ARA’s existing capabilities in unmanned and robotic systems.
Neya’s unmanned systems capabilities are in the areas of autonomy, computer vision, and general development and deployment.
