The Army’s this week awarded Sim-G Technologies a potential $352 million prime contract to provide integrated physical security systems worldwide to detect and respond to unauthorized intrusion into its facilities.
The six-year award for the Integrated Commercial Intrusion Detection System (ICIDS) IV contract will allow agencies to acquire physical security systems and services from Washington, D.C.-based Sim-G, a veteran-owned small business, and its teammates. The purpose of the ICIDS program is to provide a standard configuration for all military installations, inside and outside of the United States, for a detection system used to monitor designated areas and facilities. Under ICIDS IV, Sim-G will provide a range of services, support and equipment.
ICIDS IV consists of commercial off-the-shelf equipment, including interior and exterior sensors, primary monitor consoles, remote status monitors, remote area data collectors, CCTV, and entry control equipment.
Sim-G’s teammates include the DRS Technologies division of Italy’s Finmeccanica, ICx Technologies [ICXT], L-3 Communications [LLL], General Dynamics [GD], Battelle, and LESCO. DRS, through its acquisition of Radian in 2002, is the ICIDS III incumbent with key support from ICx.
On ICIDS IV, DRS and ICx will help with installation and sustainment of equipment. L-3 will provide surge expertise for fielding in and out of the United States, and will also help in technology evaluation and the laboratory strategy for the program. GD and Battelle will assist with Mobile Detection Assessment and Response System, which is a robotic system used for intrusion detection, as well as future integration of the Guardian chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear detection program. LESCO will develop the technical manuals and training and testing documentation.
