The Army Research, Development and Engineering Command has issued a solicitation for fabrication, first article testing and delivery of full rate production systems for the Battlefield Anti-Intrusion System (BAIS), a compact, sensor-based early warning system that is used by small tactical units for force protection and situational awareness missions. The system includes, at a minimum, a handheld monitor, sensors, cables and a carrying case. The Army plans a single award worth up to $92.4 million for a two-year base period and a single year option. So far 1,800 BAIS have been fielded out of a total requirement of 8,100 systems.
