The Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) said the Army has reached a continued investment decision on the Joint Multi-Role (JMR) Technology Demonstrator (TD) Air Vehicle Demo Science and Technology program.
Program manager Dan Bailey said the decision “requires further coordination” with the four active partners of the Future Vertical Lift Technology Demonstration program.
AVXAircraft Co., Bell Helicopter [TXT] Karem Aircraft, and Sikorsky [UTX] have been working on the program.
Most recently Sikorsky and Boeing [BA] were tapped to help develop the Joint Common Architecture standard for the JMR S&T program.
Once coordination with the companies is complete a further announcement will be forthcoming.
Bailey stated that a follow up statement will be made by AMRDEC and the Program Executive Office -Aviation as a part of a panel discussion with key government and industry partners participating in the JMR TD Air Vehicle Demonstration.
“Our intent is to showcase the teams and technologies selected for the air vehicle demonstration, discuss the significance of the JMR-TD program in developing the FVL family of systems, and show how the JMR-TD supports the future of the Department of Defense vertical lift fleet and our industry partners,” Bailey said in an Aug. 1 statement.
The panel is expected to gather in late August or early September to discuss developments and address questions from media representatives, the AMRDEC.statement said.
