Textron Inc. [TXT] on Monday said that Lisa Atherton, chief operating officer (COO) at the company’s Bell segment, has been named president and CEO of the segment effective April 28, succeeding Mitch Snyder who is retiring.
Atherton has been COO of Bell since January, taking on the new position shortly after the company beat Lockheed Martin
’s [LMT] Sikorsky business unit for the multi-billion dollar Army Future Long Range Assault Aircraft program. Lockheed Martin protested the award but the Government Accountability Office last week upheld the award to Bell.
Before becoming COO, Atherton was president and CEO of Textron’s Textron Systems segment beginning in 2017. She first joined Textron in 2007 working for the company’s Defense Systems business. In 2013, she moved to Bell, holding a variety of positions within the Military Programs business area, including as executive vice president of the business.
“Lisa has done an outstanding job of building strong teams at Bell and Textron Systems in her 16 years with the company and has earned the confidence of our customers,” Scott Donnelly, chairman and CEO of Textron, said in a statement.
Snyder has been with Textron for nearly 20 years, including more than seven as president and CEO of Bell.
“During his tenure, Mitch oversaw the development of new technologies and product innovations, significant wins in Bell’s military business and the expansion of our commercial programs,” Donnelly said.
