The Army late yesterday awarded contract modifications to BAE Systems and General Dynamics [GD] for the Ground Combat Vehicle (GCV) Technology Development (TD) phase work as called for in an earlier Acquisition Decision Memorandum.
General Dynamics was awarded a modification to the previously awarded fixed-price-incentive contract with a maximum value of $180.3 million to extend the ground combat vehicle TD phase by six months.
BAE was awarded a modification with a maximum value of $159.4 million to a previously awarded fixed-price-incentive contract, to extend the ground combat vehicle technology development phase by six months.
The six-month TD extension “provides necessary time to fully update the GCV’s analysis of alternatives, ensuring the Army is properly positioned to reach an informed, validated and fixed requirements set prior to Milestone B,” a service statement said earlier this month (Defense Daily, April 15).
For both extensions, Fiscal Year 2013 Research, Development, Testing and Evaluation, Army contract funds are being obligated.
