Boeing [BA] won’t protest the Air Force’s Family of Advanced Beyond Line of Sight Terminals (FAB-T) contract award to Raytheon [RTN], Boeing spokesman Richard Esposito confirmed Tuesday.
Raytheon was awarded a $298 million firm-fixed-price and cost-plus-fixed-fee modification on June 2 for FAB-T command post terminals (CPT) (Defense Daily, June 2
). According to the Government Accountability Office (GAO), which handles award protests, parties have 10 calendar days from a service debriefing to file protests. The Air Force briefed Boeing on the award, Espositio said, without mentioning when the meeting took place.
The Air Force previously wanted advanced wideband terminals (AWT) in addition to CPTs, but shelved those for financial reasons. Boeing was the previous incumbent on FAB-T going back to 2002 (Defense Daily; June 12, 2012). Esposito said in a statement the company will continue to deliver reliable, low-risk communications solutions to its customers today while anticipating their requirements for tomorrow.
FAB-T is an information and communications system that provides the link enabling strategic nuclear command and control using the Milstar Extremely High Frequency (EHF) and Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite communication waveforms. Raytheon spokesman Peter Ramjug declined to comment Tuesday on the company’s FAB-T developments.
