Boeing [BA] on Tuesday received a nearly $600 million order to deliver 14 H-47 Chinook Block II heavy-lift helicopters to the United Kingdom, with deliveries scheduled to start in 2026.
The company noted the deal, which was previously approved under the U.S. State Department’s Foreign Military Sales process, will make Britain the first international operator of Block II Chinooks.
“These Chinooks are the future of heavy-lift, built on an existing foundation of advanced capability and life cycle affordability. This contract for Block II aircraft sets the stage for the next 60 years of Chinook excellence on the battlefield,” Andy Builta, Boeing’s H-47 program manager, said in a statement.
The U.K.’s Royal Air Force initially announced the deal on May 13, noting the total value of the program to deliver modernized Chinooks to Britain will likely approach $2 billion over a 10-year period.
