Sweden’s Saab AB Wednesday won Brazil’s F-X2 fighter competition, Saab AB spokeswoman Helene Lindstrand confirmed Wednesday.
Saab will supply its Gripen for the program, which could procure as many 36 jets. Boeing [BA] offered its F/A-18 Super Hornet while France’s Dassault offered Rafale, according to media reports. Saab said in a statement the offer includes Gripen, subsystems for Gripen, an extensive technology transfer package, a financing package and long-term bilateral collaboration between Brazil and the Swedish government.
Boeing had also offered a full technology transfer to Brazil (Defense Daily; Aug. 19, 2011).
