The Domestic Nuclear Detection Office is awarding Smiths Detection a contract for RadSeeker handheld radiation and identification system. The estimated value of the award is $10.2 million. The systems are being purchased to meet the FY ’13 requirements of Customs and Border Protection. The award is a follow-on to an earlier contract with Smiths for RadSeeker DL systems.

[DYSL] says its RMD Research subsidiary has received $2.1 million in contracts from the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office to advance government R&D efforts focused on identifying illicit nuclear materials. “The DNDO continues to tap our highly specialized materials research expertise to develop technology for critical homeland security applications,” says Peter Sulick, Dynasil’s chairman and interim CEO and president. “These awards focus on the development of next-generation materials to combat nuclear smuggling by improving detection of illicit materials at ports, airports, railways and border crossings.”
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is awarding Leidos [LDOS] a contract to purchase materials necessary to support the company’s reduced-size Explosive Detection Systems installation efforts at various airports. The value of the delivery order, which was made against an existing indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract, was not disclosed.
TSA intends to award the American Association of Airport Executives a potential eight-month $237,432 order to continue to provide fingerprint and photo processing services while the new contractor, SIGHTCOMM, completes the certification and accreditation process for the agency’s Recruitment and Hiring Program. The program requires fingerprints for the pre-employment security background process performed on all Transportation Security Officer, Federal Air Marshal and Federal Flight Desk Officer candidates and contractors seeking employment with the TSA.
