Smiths Detection has received $520,820 in task orders from the Transportation Security Administration to provide support for the company’s AT-2 X-Ray systems deployed at checkpoints in some U.S. airports. Under a $501,520 order, Smiths will conduct analysis and evaluation of the AT-2 algorithm in support of TSA’s investigation of emerging threats. Under a $19,300 order, the company will support assessment of Tier II software on selected AT-2 systems in an operational environment with new standard operating procedures.
QED Secure Solutions LLC has received a $200,000 phase one ward from the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology branch to advance secure firmware and software upgrades for Internet of Things systems. The “IoT Secure Trust Anchor” project was awarded under the Silicon Valley Innovation Program Other Transaction Solicitation aimed at attracting non-traditional performers to offer solution to the toughest threats facing DHS and the homeland security mission. “QED’s work aims to provide our DHS operational components with the capability to validate third party-firmware and software updates,” says Melissa Ho, managing director of S&T’s SVIP. Under phase one QED aims to demonstrate a fully functional system capable of validating firmware and software for five vendors.
