Vanderlande acquired Canada’s Optosecurity, a software provider for remote screening and data integration. The deal combines Vanderlande’s automated passenger checkpoint solutions with intelligent software to integrate passenger screening processes at airports. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The McLean Group served as Optosecurity’s financial advisor on the transaction.
OSI Systems [OSIS] has completed its $75.5 million cash acquisition of the former Morpho explosive trace detection business from Smiths Group. “This business is an excellent strategic fit consistent with our expansion strategy enabling us to continue to provide compelling value and service to our customers worldwide,” says Deepak Chopra, chairman and CEO of OSI.
The Transportation Security Administration is extending two task orders to CSRA Inc. [CSRA] for up to a year for the Information Technology Infrastructure Program (ITIP) and the Security Technology Integrated Program (STIP). The potential values for both extensions were redacted. For the ITIP program, CSRA operates and maintains a single enterprise IT network infrastructure to allow the agency’s end users to perform operational and mission support requirements. Under STIP, CSRA provides support for the help desk, the Transportation Security Integration Facility, Transportation Security Equipment and software deployment, connectivity and maintenance, network security, engineering support and program management.
The Federal Aviation Administration, on behalf of Customs and Border Protection, plans to a contract to FLIR Inc. [FLIR] for the acquisition and repair of items in support of CBP’s Mobile Surveillance Capability (MSC) Block 1 surveillance towers, and the Agent Portable Surveillance System (APSS). The FAA says that FLIR is the manufacturer of both systems.
The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate has helped transition new cyber security technology developed in a government laboratory to the private sector. The Network FLOW AnalyzER, called FLOWER, was developed by the Energy Department’s Northwest National Laboratory and has been licensed by Atlanta-based zSofTech Solutions, which plans to incorporate the technology into its cloud computing and high-performance computing products. FLOWER is a software application that performs deep Internet Protocol Inspections in real-time to collect two-way network conversations between computers so that it can detect and help network administrators mitigate cyber attacks.
