The Department of Homeland Security says in fiscal year 2017 it executed 1,099 contract actions valued at $61.9 million using the domestic non-availability waivers under the Buy American Act. The awards represent about 1.6 percent of DHS’ procurement obligations that were subject to the Buy American Act. Most of the actions were awarded by the Coast Guard for aircraft accessories, airframe structural components, torque converters and speed changers, and helicopter rotor blades, drive mechanisms, and components.
Cyemptive Technologies
, a developer of preemptive cyber security technology, says it has emerged from stealth mode, announcing a $3.5 million Series A funding round and selection by a panel of senior government officials that its technology was the most innovative compared with others. The panel selected Cyemptive’s technology through a Department of Homeland Security Border Security Technology Consortium Pitchman competition that includes more than 60 companies. The company tells HSR that winning the event provided it with “key contacts, relationships and introductions into the DHS organization to pursue multiple contract opportunities.”
The Transportation Security Administration plans to award Leidos [LDOS] a one-year sole source contract to continue provide support to the data center for the agency’s Office of Human Capital Personnel Futures Program. The contract is expected to begin in May.
