Customs and Border Protection is deploying its Simplified Arrival facial comparison system to multiple pedestrian border crossings within the El Paso Field Office area of operations, including Columbus, Santa Teresa, Presidio, Tornillo and Fort Hancock. Simplified Arrival uses facial comparison technology to automate the manual identity document checks currently required for admission into the U.S.

plans to award SITA a contract for services to electronically transmit airline data to the agency. The data includes passenger name records, air cargo manifests, and other related data to support CBP’s mission, and statutory and regulatory requirements, to screen people and cargo entering and exiting the U.S. The contract will have a base-year and four one-year options.
Signature Science has received a one-year, $292,815 contract from the Navy to develop a self-contained, single-use lateral flow immunoassay (LFA) system for the detection of synthetic opioids such as fentanyl. To detect synthetic opioids, Texas-based Signature Science says that first responders currently use procedures that include external laboratory equipment and buffers, and require the handling of the opioid itself, increasing the risk of exposure. The company’s single-unit, self-contained LFA design will make it easier for first responders wearing personal protective equipment and working in tight spaces to get results faster and more safely. Signature Science is a subsidiary of Southwest Research Institute.
The Department of Homeland Security Privacy Office is seeking applicants for appointment to the DHS Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee, which provides advice at the request of the secretary and chief privacy officer on programmatic, policy, operational, security, administrative and technological issues within DHS that relate to personally identifiable information, as well as data integrity, transparency, and other privacy-related matters.
