Peraton has begun work on its $2.7 billion cloud optimization contract for the Department of Homeland security following the rejection in January by the Government Accountability Office of a protest by the losing bidder. The contract for the Data Center and Cloud Optimization was awarded last October but work was held up after General Dynamics protested the outcome. GAO ruled in favor of DHS on Jan. 19.
The Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology Directorate has selected 17 faculty members from minority serving institutions to receive a total of $824,234 to advance their research projects. The award winners represent various S&T centers of excellence, including the Arctic Domain Awareness Center, Center for Accelerated Operational Efficiency, Cross-Border Threat Screening and Supply Chain Defense, Coastal Resilience Center, Criminal Investigations and Network Analysis, Critical Infrastructure and Resilience Institute, and the Maritime Security Center.
