TSA Issues Draft BPA for FAST Teams
The Transportation Security Administration has issued a draft Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for the Flexible Agile Scalable Teams (FAST), which is aimed at providing full-service, enterprise-focused applications development capabilities where information technology (IT) services are delivered through state-of-the art, service-enabled IT software systems and dynamic computing environments. Using the BPA, the TSA Office of Information Technology will provide portable, reusable, and interoperable business-driven solutions to support the agency’s mission. TSA says to achieve integration and customization of mission support systems and applications, it needs multiple agile teams in support of Agile design, development, testing, and adaptive maintenance capabilities. TSA is moving towards operations and maintenance being part of the agile development life-cycle. In other words, an approach that promotes the idea, “if you build it, you own it.” TSA anticipates issuing a multiple-award BPA under General Services Administration Federal Supply Schedule IT-70 to satisfy FAST requirements. Pentagon Force Protection Agency Wants Biometrics for Access Control
The Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) has issued a Request for Information in the interest of obtaining a system to expand its access control capabilities to include biometric authentication of tenants, with the intent of being able to augment existing Common Access Card only or CAC+PIN-based access control authentication with CAC+Biometric or CAC+PIN+biometric. The agency says the broader goal for biometric authentication is to largely deprecate the need for visual identification and matching of credential and cardholder by local guard forces, add higher surety for entry to select locations, and to enable future changes in guard force staffing depending on threat environment. The PFPA’s requirements include a multi-modal “your choice” biometric authentication of both fingerprint and iris. Sol. No. MAD110220181100. Respond by Dec. 4.
