The Department of Homeland Security Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Office has issued an Open Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for a five-year research and development (R&D) effort in support of its mission. The office is seeking ideas through topic solicitations to engage industry and encourage innovative R&D that will help to identify, explore and demonstrate new technologies and capabilities. The Open BAA gives the office the flexibility to solicit papers and proposals and to potentially follow-up with awards. Special Ops Command Issues RFI for Biometrics
U.S. Special Operations Command Program Executive Office for Special Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Exploitation has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential commercial off-the-shelf technologies for participation in the evaluation of mass biometrics enrollment including the collection and on-board storage of a subject’s facial photograph, iris and fingerprints. DHS Silicon Valley Innovation Program Seeks Algorithms for Passenger Screening
The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate Silicon Valley Innovation Program (SVIP) has issued a topic call on behalf of the Transportation Security Administration seeking innovative techniques to automatically classify the contents of passenger stream-of-commerce images and data in a manner that can support future algorithm development for explosive and or prohibited item threats. TSA is interested in solutions that facilitate adaptive image interpretation and provide object recognition capabilities that recognize and adapt to changes in objects, materials, and other aspects of passenger property. The current SVIP topic call is focused on the screening of passenger belongings. The SVIP program will host an Industry Day on May 4 at SRI Inc. in Menlo Park, Calif.
