CBP Releases Presolicitation Notice for Low Energy Drive Through System for Vehicles
Customs and Border Protection says it plans to release a solicitation on Aug. 3 for its Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) Low Energy Drive Thru System. The agency says it requires three types of low energy drive through systems: Type 1 Systems with a smaller footprint capable of supporting pre-primary and post-primary scanning in high traffic environments; Type 2 Systems with a larger footprint capable of providing multiple X-Ray views to support secondary inspections; and Type 3 Systems capable of inspecting buses and trucks and semi-trailers. The low energy systems will allow CBP to scan conveyances for contraband such as drugs, weapons and currency with drivers safely inside. Notice ID: 03C20R0127. Contact: David Banks, [email protected]

TSA Innovation Task Force Plans Industry Day for Aviation Security Solutions
The Transportation Security Administration’s Innovation Task Force (ITF) is planning to host a virtual industry day on Aug. 6 to discuss a Targeted Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) seeking potential solutions for aviation security in the areas of self-distance screening, system integration for dynamic screening, vendor-identified problem, and staff screening. The ITF seeks concept papers and proposals to improve its understanding of existing market capabilities. The upcoming industry day will include an overview of the IFT and current initiatives, a discussion of the requirements for its Innovative Demonstrations for Enterprise Advancement (IDEA) BAA. DHS S&T Seeks Advanced Checked and Checkpoint Baggage Screening Systems
The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate has issued a call against its 2016 Apex Screening at Speed Broad Agency Announcement to identify advanced technologies that could increase the measurement or mathematical discrimination between homemade explosives and stream-of-commerce clutter in checked baggage and carry-on items. The BAA will focus on five specific topic areas: advanced X-Ray systems development and testing of full-up system engineering design models; advanced algorithms and system integration with a focus on threat detection and false alarm reduction; development and maturation of system components and subsystems to evolve laboratory and experimental prototypes into full-up X-Ray system designs able to meet advanced systems requirements; development of information-based methods to include new methods of baggage classification, screening, and transport in the checked baggage domain to enable multiple parallel screening tiers to adjudicate bag safety outside of X-Ray technologies; and development of in-line checked baggage screening training applications.
