CBP Seeks CT Mail Scanners
Customs and Border Protection has released a Request for Quotation for two computed tomography (CT)-based scanners to conduct non-intrusive inspections of mail at land border facilities where canine and manual inspections are current performed. DHS S&T Issues OTA for Silicon Valley Program
The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate through its Silicon Valley Innovation Program (SVIP) has released a five-year Other Transaction Solicitation to small-businesses that have capabilities that could meet the needs of the Homeland Security Enterprise. Some of the anticipated technical topic areas under the OTS include Internet of Things Security, Unmanned Aerial System Security, Aviation Security, Border Security, Cybersecurity, Support to First Responders, and Distributed Ledger/Blockchain Technologies. Contracts awarded under the OTS could have up to five phases with the first four being between six to nine months each and the potential value of each phase ranging between $50,000 and $500,000. A Phase 5 may be awarded if the government determines that further operational testing is required and/or the technology is applicable in additional DHS use cases. The SVIP effort is aimed at getting startups and non-traditional government contractors to bring their potential solutions to DHS through flexible, rapid contracting methods.
