Army Issues Presolicitation for Next-Gen Chem Detector

The Army Contracting Command, on behalf of the Joint Project Manager for Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Contamination Avoidance, plans to post a solicitation for the Next-Generation Chemical Detector (NGCD) Technology Development phase around July 12. The NGCD consists of three variants: Variant 1 is for multi-sample identifier; Variant 2 is for surface contaminant locator; and Variant 3 is for the platform/site air monitor. Under the planned acquisition NGCD prototypes will be purchased for the technology development phase, which will evaluate the technology for detecting chemical warfare agents, toxic industrial chemicals, and non-traditional agents. Army Plans Tactical Biometric Device Demonstration

The Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center, on behalf of the Principal Staff Assistant for Biometrics, has issued a Request for Information for a demonstration to determine the effectiveness of commercial-off-the-shelf tactical biometric device collection devices against Defense Department requirements. The measured demonstration will occur between July 29 and Aug. 23. A detailed test plan will be revealed to industry and academia at an Industry Day to be held the week of July 15. Ongoing efforts across the Defense Department to make this technology an enduring capability include the U.S. Special Operations Command’s Sensitive Sight Exploitation Program of Record, the Navy’s Identity Dominance System Program of Record, and the Army’s Joint Personnel Identification, version 2 program, which is still in development with a draft Capability Development Document under review. DDR&E Issues RFI for Biometric Store-Match-Share Capability

The Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Rapid Reaction Technology Office has issued a Request for Information (RFI) on the availability of commercial technologies to support the in support of the Defense Department’s Identity Resolution mission. Specifically, the RRTO is interested in biometric store-match-share capabilities, which is one element of the Identity Resolution paradigm. One objective of the effort is to explore solutions that are cost-effective and affordable over the life-cycle. The store-match-share core system capability must be scalable and able to adapt to the process regular throughput of Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification files. Sol. No. RRTO-20130716-W-IDENTITY_RESOLUTION. Respond by July 16. Contact: Defense Biometrics Office, [email protected].

DHS S&T Issues RFI for ETD Systems for Air Cargo Screening

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) branch has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for the rapid improvement of explosive trace detector (ETD) systems for air cargo screening. S&T is interested in responses that are focused on already approved or qualified ETDs. The agency is interested in devices that can be improved within eight months, as an objective threshold, and 18 months at the maximum. Potential improvements include improved throughput through software upgrades and human factors engineering, increased system durability and reduced failures, reduced physical footprint and reduced life-cycle costs.
