DHS S&T Issues BAA for Chem/Bio R&D
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate, Chemical and Biological Division, has issued an Open Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for research and development (R&D) proposals to deliver practical solutions to urgent chemical and biological defense priorities. DHS says the Open BAA will give it an acquisition tool with the flexibility to solicit proposals and make awards to perform rapid prototyping of technical solutions as ever-changing urgent operational issues and capability gaps are identified. DNDO Issues Draft RFP for Human Portable Tripwire
The Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) has issued a draft solicitation for a competition for Human Portable Tripwire (HPT) systems. The agency plans to award one or more indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contracts for the systems, which will provide the Department of Homeland Security agents with the ability to detect and identify radiation and nuclear threats, store the results, and communicate the results in real time to a reach back capability. The HPT systems must be designed to be worn by officers and agents to support personal protection. The DHS components with the largest potential requirements for the systems are Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, and the Transportation Security Administration. DHS Plans Small Business Outreach Event in July
The Department of Homeland Security Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization will host a Vendor Outreach Session in Washington, DC, on July 17. The session will consist of a series of pre-arranged 15-minute appointments with Small Business Specialists from the procurement offices of DHS components. DHS S&T Issues BAA for Standoff Trace Detection
The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate plans to host a pre-solicitation conference on July 31 for a Broad Agency Announcement on Standoff Trace Detection. The forthcoming BAA will solicit sources for technical solutions to the Vehicle Eye Safe Trace (VEST) project. The solutions are to be deployed prior to non-aviation, federal building vehicle security checkpoints to provide early warning of threats entering the area.
