TSA Issues RFP for TEDS
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Transportation Security Equipment Deployment Services (TEDS), which will replace the current Security Equipment Systems Integration for deployments of checkpoint screening technologies and checked baggage screening technologies. The current SESI contractors are Boeing [BA], L-3 Communications
[LLL] and Lockheed Martin [LMT], which received separate contracts worth a combined $483 million in Aug. 2011 (HSR, Aug. 3, 2011). TSA plans to award a single indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract per three geographical regions of the U.S. for a total of up to three contract awards. Currently TSA acquires SESI services on a cost plus fixed fee and firm-fixed price basis but wants to acquire more of these services as firm-fixed price, performance based. Sol. Army Solicits for Increment 3 of Automated Installation Entry
The Army Contracting Command in support of the Joint Program Manager-Guardian Product Manager for Force Protection Systems is soliciting for Increment 3 of the Automated Installation Entry (AIE) System. The acquisition requires hardware and software for 33 new installations. AIE automates access control processes for authorized and registered personnel entering an installation. Additional capabilities include biometric integration, extended sensor suites, enhance automated processes and integration with the Joint Service architecture. DHS Plans Small Business Outreach Session for Oct. 23
The Department of Homeland Security, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization will host a Vendor Outreach Session on Oct. 23 in Washington, DC. TSA Plans Industry Day for PreCheck
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will host an Industry Day on Oct. 7 related to an initiative to establish a contractual relationship with the private sector to enhance the agency’s efforts to expand the population of travelers using its PreCheck trusted traveler program. DARPA Issues BAA for Cyber Fault-Tolerant Attack Recovery
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has issued a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) to obtain research proposals in the area of heterogeneous, cyber fault-tolerant computation to enable rapid detection of and recover from cyber attacks. CBP Issues RFI for Radar Systems
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to learn about the availability of existing radar systems to provide the following capabilities: high sensitivity to detect small targets; solid-state design with high MTBF and low life-cycle costs; low prime power requirements to enable off-grid operation; full attended remote operation and control; small footprint to provide for tower mount, building roof top mount and rapid setup mobility; S-ban operation to ensure good performance in all weather conditions; exceptional clutter cancellation; high resolution for multi-radar networking; 360-degree surveillance; and more. Coast Guard Issues RFI for Heavy Polar Icebreaker Replacement
The Coast Guard has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for the Polar Icebreaker Replacement Project. The service wants information on a candidate for heavy polar icebreaker designs and U.S. shipyards that are capable of building a heavy polar icebreaker. The Coast Guard wants to determine the state-of-the-market for commercial and scientific research icebreakers that can meet, or be configured to meet, the service’s operational mission requirements.
