CACI International Inc. [CACI] yesterday said it was awarded a 30-month prime contract, with a total value of $28 million if all options are exercised, from the Department of Defense’s Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) to support JIEDDO’s Joint Expeditionary Team (JET).
JET serves U.S. armed forces worldwide by providing rapidly deployable expertise in all aspects of counter-improvised explosive device (C-IED) operations.
The six-month base and two 12-month options contract, which CACI received in the first quarter of its fiscal year 2014 ending Sept. 30, 2013, represents continuing work for CACI and reinforces the company’s presence in its high-growth Integrated Security Solutions market area.
JET supports JIEDDO across three lines of operations: attack the network, defeat the device, and train the force.
JET advisors assist and mentor units conducting offensive operations to proactively find, disrupt, and defeat IED networks; integrate and employ materiel and non-materiel solutions to detect and neutralize IEDs or mitigate their effects; and collect, analyze, and disseminate lessons learned and best practices observed during embedded operations to enhance combat unit proficiency in C-IED tactics, techniques, and procedures.
In sustaining this business with JIEDDO, CACI also offers the benefit of continuity for this vital advisory and assistance mission.
CACI’s Chief Operating Officer and President of U.S. Operations John Mengucci said, “Assisting our military in protecting the U.S. Armed Forces is one of CACI’s highest priorities, and our award of the Joint Expeditionary Team contract enables us to continue that support for U.S. combat units all over the world. CACI offers deep functional expertise and a rigorous selection process that provides the highly skilled professionals necessary to deliver this exceptional level of advisory service.”
CACI President and Chief Executive Officer Ken Asbury said: “Our focus on high-growth market areas like Integrated Security Solutions has been essential to sustaining our business with the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization. Wherever U.S. forces or personnel go, IEDs are ubiquitous and will be employed. We are proud to continue delivering highly specialized solutions and services that assist our government in safeguarding America’s servicemen and women on their critical global missions.”
