Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking information on commercially available aircraft that could be configured to satisfy all or a large portion of its current mission requirements. Currently, various aircraft are utilized to perform the airborne interceptor/tracker, maritime/ground surveillance and air/ground interdiction missions. To improve mission effectiveness and resource flexibility, CBP wishes to explore the feasibility and practicality of using a sensor-equipped multi-role enforcement aircraft that can effectively perform these types of missions. For purposes of the RFI, CBP says the configuration should emphasize the maritime/ground surveillance missions with design flexibility to support ancillary missions such as airborne tracker, logistical support and signal intelligence collection. CBP eventually plans to award a single prime contract for the aircraft and integrated mission equipment. Sol. No. CBP-CS-RFI-20042385. Respond by Sept. 29.
