American Science & Engineering [ASEI] received an initial $3.3 million task order, Leidos [LDOS] $3.1 million, OSI Systems’ [OSIS] Rapiscan division $2.9 million, and Britain’s Smiths Group’s Smiths Detection division $3.6 million. The initial task orders satisfy the minimum guaranteed by for each company under the multiple award indefinite-delivery, indefinite quantity contract, CBP said in a Sept. 11 award notice.

CBP originally planned to select up to three vendors for task orders under the original solicitation.

It plans to acquire large-scale non-intrusive inspection systems for use at various ports of entry throughout the United States. The systems will be used to inspect trailer trucks, pallets, trailer-mounted cargo containers and other vehicles for contraband such as illicit drugs, terrorist weapons such as weapons of mass destruction, and currency, according to a statement of work CBP issued in May as part of the Request for Proposals.

The mobile systems allow CBP to move the systems to different locations based on threat.
