Aerojet Rocketdyne [AJRD] awarded CGI [GIB] an enterprise outsourcing agreement contract to transform its legacy information technology (IT) systems to a secure hybrid IT environment, CGI said Wednesday.
Under the contract CGI will unify disparate technologies, simplify mobile platforms, and lead overall transformation of Aerojet Rocketdyne’s systems to a next-generation architecture. To these ends CGI will provide the technology, consulting services, frameworks, and practices needed to secure and manage the organization’s full IT portfolio. It will also create cohesive strategies that will align IT to business objectives and maximize IT investments as a result, CGI said.
A CGI spokeswoman highlighted that under the contract CGI will provide cloud migration and digital transformation as they transition the legacy IT system into the new environment.
The company will also deploy its Unify360 product to help enable the digital transformation from the legacy IT to a next-generation environment in a way that saves costs, is secure and compliant, and is flexible enough to meet Aerojet Rocketdyne’s needs, the company said.
“CGI is becoming an important partner as we look toward the coming decades of exploration, innovation and technological development in support of our space and national security clients,” Aerojet Rocketdyne vice president of information technology, Mark Angelo, said in a statement.
CGI noted it will perform work on behalf of Aerojet Rocketdyne through its networks of U.S. onshore IT service delivery centers, which help domestic organizations diversify IT sourcing for reduced cost and risks.
“We are honored to become a trusted partner to Aerojet Rocketdyne … Through this partnership, CGI looks forward to bringing its expertise to bear to help Aerojet Rocketdyne adapt to the future needs of their company and its clients,” Patrick Dougherty, senior vice president of U.S. defense for CGI Federal, added.
The CGI spokeswoman said they see near term potential for expansion of this contract and “this is the beginning of what we both expect to be a long-term and highly strategic partnership.”
