Chesapeake Technology International Corp. (CTI) on Monday said it has acquired Asymmetric Technologies, LLC, a small developer and supplier of open architecture capabilities for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and edge communications.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. CTI is a portfolio company of Bluestone Investment Partners

.

Asymmetric has developed IronClad, a platform agnostic, cyber secure, open architecture, edge computer for automatic piloting, video processing, and artificial intelligence and computer vision applications. The Air Force, U.S. Special Operations Command, the Department of Homeland Security Silicon Valley Innovation Program, and the Ohio Federal Research Network have all contributed development funding to IronClad, which has been integrated on multiple government-operated and commercial UAS platforms.

Asymmetric, which is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business in Columbus, Ohio, is also developing the Whisper system for low probability of detection and interception data transmission in hostile environments.

CTI said the acquisition expands its product portfolio for Defense Department and national security customers.

“Both Asymmetric and CTI have warfighter focused missions and engineering focused cultures,” Jay Moorman, CTI’s CEO, said in a statement. “This acquisition will enhance our ability to deliver comprehensive software and purpose-built products and solutions for our customers and reaffirms our strategy to invest in our business to address evolving national security needs.”

In April 2023, CTI acquired Rapid Imaging Technologies, which develops software and video analytics technologies to enable real-time geospatial awareness on live video for the defense and intelligence communities.
