The Coast Guard on Tuesday said it awarded Bollinger Shipyards a $297.4 million contract option for six Fast Response Cutters (FRC) that will be delivered in 2022 and 2023.
The award is for FRCs 51 through 56 of a planned buy of 58 vessels that are replacing aging 110-foot Island-class patrol cutters.
So far, Bollinger has delivered 35 154-foot Sentinel-class FRCs to the Coast Guard and 33 are in service.
With the latest award, which was made on July 31, Bollinger has received $1.2 billion of a potential $1.4 billion for the final 26 FRCs. The Coast Guard in May 26 awarded Bollinger a potential $1.4 billion contract for the last 26 FRCs to round out the service’s fleet at 58 vessels.
While the program of records is 58 FRCs, Congress has provided funding for two more vessels for operations in support of U.S. Central Command.
Last August, the Coast Guard awarded Bollinger $294.4 million contract for FRCs 45 through 50.
The first 32 FRCs were supplied to the Coast Guard under an earlier contract to Bollinger.
