The Coast Guard has a requirement to provide up to 470 Response Boat-Small (RB-S) boats to various shore units in order to perform Ports, Waterways and Coastal Security, Search and Rescue, drug interdiction, alien migrant interdiction, living marine resources, defense readiness and other law enforcement missions. The procurement will also include up to 20 boats for Customs and Border Protection and 10 for the Navy for a total buy of up to 500 vessels. The RB-S will replace the current fleet of Response Boat-Homeland Security and RB-S that together comprise the Defender class of boats. A Request for Proposals is expected to be issued this week.
