The Coast Guard has awarded Phase I contracts to Aluminum Chambered Boats (ACB) and Metal Shark Aluminum Boats under the Transportable Port Security Boats (TPSB) program. Each firm will deliver one boat by March 31, 2010 for testing. Once validation of the performance of the initial boats is completed, there will be a down select to a single supplier. The initial award to ACB is for $423 thousand and to Metal Shark for $508.7 thousand. Should ACB win, the maximum value of its contract is $37.8 million and for Metal Shark $45 million. The winning contractor will provide up to 60 boats for the Coast Guard and up to 20 boats for Customs and Border Protection. The TPSBs will be used for various missions such as defense operations, enforcement of laws and treaties, and maritime safety and security.
