The Coast Guard said on Monday it has completed the development and testing phase of its new Logistics Information Management System (CG-LIMS) and will now begin the initial deployment of the maintenance and supply management software for routine use.
The Coast Guard will begin using CG-LIMS as the primary maintenance software for the four HC-144A Ocean Sentry maritime patrol aircraft stationed at the Aviation Training Center in Mobile, Ala. The maintenance crew for these aircraft will demonstrate the system’s usability and readiness for large-scale implementation, the Coast Guard said.
The goal is to support all HC-144A aircraft by the end of 2015.
During development and testing the Coast Guard focused on configuring the logistics system to meeting its requirements. CG-LIMS includes maintenance tracking and configuration management to help maintenance crews provide planes and boats with the proper equipment. The software is based on the Oracle [ORCL] e-business suite and tailored to meet the service’s logistics needs.
CG-LIMS will replace the current Asset Logistics Management Information System. As CG-LIMS is implemented, the project team will configure additional capabilities for the software. Future versions of the system will support supply chain and financial management and add libraries of information such as engineering manuals and technical drawings.
The project team will also add management of depot-level maintenance to cover overhauls and other major projects that can’t be completed in the field.
Mythics Inc. is providing the software licenses for GG-LIMS. The Coast Guard is responsible for systems integration.
