Comtech Telecommunications Corp. [CMTL] was awarded $24 million in multiple orders from an unspecified international space agency to design, develop, and install multiple launch vehicle tracking stations in the South Pacific, the company said Wednesday.
The contracts, which go through the company’s command and control technologies group in its government solutions business segment, are set to provide mission support for newly developed launch vehicle technologies. Comtech expects deliveries pursuant to these contracts will substantially occur over the next two years, the company said.
This Comtech business segment manufactures space and components technology in Torrance, Calif.and provides services including all aspects of a station life cycle.
“We are extremely pleased with the confidence that the international space agency has placed in the advanced communication solutions capabilities of our Government Solutions segment. The automated and remote technologies we have developed for these new stations will allow the international space agency to provide more cost effective launch services to their customers throughout the world,” Fred Kornberg, president and CEO of Comtech Telecommunications Corp., said in a statement.
Separately, Comtech Xicom Technology Inc., a subsidiary of Comtech, won a $6.6 million follow-on contract from a U.S. military integrator for high-power satellite communication (SATCOM) traveling wave tube amplifiers, the company said Thursday.
This is the third award in a multi-year program for the power amplifiers used in tactical transportable SATCOM terminals.
Comtech Xicom Technology manufactures tube-based and solid-state power amplifiers for military and satellite uplink applications. Their amplifiers can be used in fixed, ground-based, ship-board, and airborne mobile applications.
“Comtech is proud to continue to be a key supplier on this highly advanced multi-band SATCOM system. This order demonstrates our customer’s full confidence in our high-power SATCOM products and our ability to deliver them on time and with high quality,” Kornberg added.
