The Department of State last Friday said it has approved a potential foreign military sale of laser-guided rockets to the United Kingdom for $31.2 million.

The proposed sale is for up to 768 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS)-II all up rounds as well as support equipment, spare parts, and related services.

BAE Systems’ unit in Nashua, N.H. is the contractor for the APKWS-II.  The company provides a laser-guidance kit for 70mm rockets to make them precision weapons.

APKWS are deployed on multiple rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft and ground-based platforms.

Congress was notified on Friday of the possible sale by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency.
