Coast Guard Awards GD $126M for Rescue 21 Systems Support
General Dynamics’ [GD] Missions Systems business unit has received a potential three-year $125.6 million follow-on contract to provides 21 program management, system support, and maintenance and sustainment engineering support for the Coast Guard Command, Control, Communications and Engineering Center. Rescue 21 is the Coast Guard’s primary direction-finding system for locating distressed mariners and also enables command and control and communications for search and rescue operations. The contract has a base period and three option periods.
CBP Awards OSI Systems $65M for Low-Energy Drive-Through Portals
OSI Systems [OSIS] American Science and Engineering (AS&E) business unit has received a potential $64.5 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to provide 12 low-energy drive through portals and related maintenance and service. CBP said in August that it planned to award the contract to AS&E, saying no other company had been identified that could meet the requirements. OSI acquired AS&E in September. AS&E’s Z Portal System is a low-energy drive-through system used to inspect automobiles and trucks as they drive through with their occupants inside. The contract calls for nine portals in the first year and three in the second followed by nine years of maintenance and service. Low-energy drive-through portals allow vehicles to be screened while they are driven through the system and without exposing occupants to harmful radiation. Deployments will begin in the second quarter of 2017.
Postal Service Awards Northrop Grumman $47M for Biodetection System
Northrop Grumman [NOC] has received a $47.1 million contract from the United States Postal Service for the Biohazard Detection System (BDS). The contract continues work the company has been doing for the USPS since the fall of 2001 when letters laced with anthrax killed five people and infected more than a dozen others. The company has delivered more than 1,000 BDS systems to hundreds of mail processing facilities to autonomously screen mail for anthrax.
DHS S&T Awards Salient CRGT $23M for Border Security
Salient CRGT has received a potential five-year $22.6 million contract from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate to provide development, integration and evaluation in support the Borders and Maritime Research, Integration and Transition Environments (BorderRITE). The company says its work fills the gap between vendor testing and pilot programs by development systems and creating environments to evaluate emerging technologies and transition them to operational use. “Our Innovation Centers focus on identifying and testing new technologies to improve our customers’ efficiency and threat posture,” says Brad Antle, CEO of Salient CRGT. “This effort picks up where manufacturers’ and vendors’ product testing ends. Evaluating technologies in a real-world environment will inform DHS S&T’s decision making about significant technology investments and save the agency time and money.”
Germany Awards Smiths Detection Contract for Baggage Screening Systems
Smiths Detection has receive a contract from the Procurement Agency of Germany’s Ministry of the Interior to provide HI-SCAN 10080 XCT systems for hold baggage screening at the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport. The HI SCAN 10080 XCT meets the latest European Union regulations for explosive detection systems, Standard 3. The system automatically detects explosive threats and can be upgraded to meet future demands to identify additional threats such as homemade explosives. The high speed system can screen up to 1,800 bags per hour. The contract includes eight HI SCAN 1800 XCT systems with 30 image analysis stations, and six HI SCAN 5180si models that are flexible enough to be used as needed as a backup in different locations around the airport. The equipment will be delivered and installed by the end of 2016.
OBIM Awards JV Contract to Support IDENT
The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Biometric and Identity Management (OBIM) has awarded a Enterprise Resource Planned System International, LLC (ERPSI) a contract to establish and maintain a reporting environment for the department’s IDENT biometric database. ERPSI is a joint venture between Planned Systems International, Inc. (PSI) and ERP International, LLC. The award value was not disclosed. The contract has a base year one three one-year options and provides OBIM with a biometric processing system to rapidly identify and verify subjects using fingerprints. ERPSI will provide data architecture, database administration, application/system administration, and information security. The services will support the operational data store environment to provide automated access to mission critical data that can be made readily available outside the IDENT production environment.
ICE Awards ERPSI Contract to Modernize Correspondence and Task Tracker
The Enterprise Resource Planned Systems International, LLC (ERPSI) joint venture has received a contract from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to modernize the agency’s Correspondence and Task Tracking System (ICATT). The award was made under the Department of Homeland Security EAGLE II contract vehicles and includes a base-year and four one-year options. The award value wasn’t disclosed. ERPSI is a joint venture between Planned Systems International, Inc. and ERP International, LLC. PSI says the win expands its immigration portfolio across DHS.

The Senate’s Office of the Sergeant at Arms has selected 12 firms as qualified to be invited to receive the solicitation for proposals for cyber security information assurance operations support services. The vendors are 2 Twelve Solutions, GINIA, Inc., JACOBS Technology, KPMG, LLP, MAR (MD), LLC, Millennium Corp., Smartronix, Inc., CSRA Inc. [CSRA], SRC, Inc., Tailored Solutions & Consulting, Inc., VariQ Corp., and Veris Group, LLC.
Army Awards Visionary Products $165M for Radiological Detection System
