L3 Nabs $8M in TSA Contracts for EDS Systems
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded L3 Technologies [LLL] a competitive $3.9 million contract to provide medium-speed eXaminer explosive detection system (EDS) to Tri-Cities Airport, Pasco, Wash., to automatically screen checked bags for explosives. The agency also awarded the company a $4.1 million contract to provide medium-speed eXaminer EDS systems for Charleston International Airport in South Carolina.
HHS Awards MSD $4M to Develop Rad/Nuke MCM or Biodosimetry Devices
The Department of Health and Human Services, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has awarded Meso Scale Diagnostics (MSD) a $4.2 million contract for development work under a program entitled “Development of Radiation/Nuclear Medical Countermeasures (MCM) or Biodosimetry Biomarkers/Devices.” The project aims to assess and reduce mortality and or/major morbidities associated with exposure to radiation from a radiological or nuclear incident. The goal is to advance the work toward eventual Food and Drug Administration approval or licensure to assess/mitigate/threat radiation-induced injuries and thereby improve survival following a radiological event.
