DHS Selects 30 Firms to Compete for $3 Billion in Public Safety Work
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has selected 30 companies to compete for task orders under a potential five-year, $3 billion contract to supply the department and its components a wide range of tactical communications products, infrastructure and services to support public safety communications for first responders. The Tactical Communications Equipment and Services (TacCom) contract allows certain companies to compete for work in five functional categories including Subscriber Units, Infrastructure, Infrastructure Services, Operations and Maintenance Services, and Test Equipment. Some of the contractors selected under TacCom include ACG Systems, AEG, Affigent, LLC, Allied Technology, Arinc, AT&T [T], CACI International [CACI], Catalyst Communications Tech, Inc., Chartis Consulting Corp., Daniels Engineering, EF Johnson Co., Eyak Technology, LLC, General Dynamics [GD], Government Acquisitions, Inc., Harris [HRS], IT Tech Direct, Karco Enterprises, Inc., Lockheed Martin [LMT], Midland Radio Corp., Motorola [MOT], Nakuuruq Solutions, LLC, Patriot Towers, Inc., Procom Corp., QinetiQ North America, RELM Wireless [RWC], Rivada Port Graham Solutions, LLC, Science Applications International Corp. [SAI], Soft Tech Consulting, Inc., Thales, and Unisys Corp. [UIS]. The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract has a two-year base period and three one-year options.
Lockheed Martin Nabs Potential $454M Task Order to Support DoD in Cyber Defense
Lockheed Martin [LMT] has received a potential $454 million contract to support the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3) through digital forensics and analysis. The work will be conducted through a task order awarded by the General Services Administration’s Federal Systems Integration and Management Center under the GSA Alliant Contract. “DC3 faces compelling requirements for superior digital forensics and multimedia lab services, related research, development, test and evaluation, and cyber analytics,” says Steve Shirley, executive director of DC3. “Responsive and capable industry mission partners are a significant feature of DC3’s operations.” DC3 provides assistance in the investigation of criminal, counterintelligence and counter terrorism matters, as well as cyber security support to defense industrial base partners.
Kratos Gets Contract to Provide Security System at Corporate HQ
Kratos Defense & Security Solutions [KTOS] has received a contract to design, engineer and deploy a specialized security system at the headquarters of a $25 billion multinational company. The name of the company and the value of the award were not disclosed. The security system will provide access control, surveillance and certain other custom security related elements. Kratos says the customer is new and is located in more than 20 countries. Kratos says that it believes the new business could lead to an important global strategic relationship.
AS&E gets Awards for ZBVs and Mil Trailers
American Science and Engineering [ASEI] has received two awards for its Z Backscatter Vans (ZBV) and related military trailers. One order is for eight ZBVs for as a follow-on for international law enforcement agencies to scan vehicles at border crossing and other checkpoints to detect explosives and other contraband. The second award is from the Defense Department for four ZBV Military Trailers for counter-terrorism missions in harsh environments.
DHS Awards GD $14M to Support National Communications System
General Dynamics [GD] has received a $14 million task order by the Department of Homeland Security to provide 24/7 watch operations for critical communications infrastructure through support of the National Communications System’s National Coordinating Center for Communications. GD will provide emergency response support and liaison to communications partners to identify the possible impacts of potentially disruptive events and coordinate the restoration and repair of the infrastructure when outages occur.
CATSA Awards Morpho Detection $2M for ETDs
Morpho Detection, Inc. (MDI) has received a contract from the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) valued at more than $2 million for 63 Itemiser DX explosive trace detection (ETD) machines. The desktop machines will be used in airports to support passenger and baggage screening efforts. “Morpho Detection is pleased CATSA has recognized the operational capabilities of Itemiser DX by placing their first order for this industry-leading desktop trace solution,” says Brad Buswell, president and CEO of MDI. MDI is a business units of the Safran Group.
