DHS Selects Multiple Firms for Potential $11B TABSS Contract

The Department of Homeland Security has selected at least 13 firms to compete for acquisition-related services under the potential $11 billion five-year, indefinite-quantity, indefinite-delivery Technical Acquisition and Business Support Services (TABSS) contract. Work that will done under the contract includes a range of support services for use throughout DHS, business strategy, business processes, management support services, and other support services. Winning contractors include eGlobalTech, BayFirst Solutions, LLC, Ishpi Information Technologies, Inc., Zantech IT Services, DP George and Company, LLC, Crisis1, LLC, Advantage SCI, LLC, Information Technology Coalition, Inc., Sayres and Associates Corp., Fairfield Systems, Inc., Business Strategy Consultants, ERIMAX, Inc., Panum Group, LLC, and Sevatec.

Qbase-McNeil Joint Venture Nabs $360M ICE Contract

Qbase-McNeil Integrated Solutions (QMIS) has received a six-year, $360 million contract from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to provide mission critical information technology to the agency’s customers worldwide. QMIS is a joint venture between AECOM Technology Corp. [ACM] and Qbase, LLC. Teaming partners include Arctic Slope Regional Corp., JJR Solutions, Barrister Global Services Network, Defense Point, TSM Technology Solutions and Barling Bay.

L.A. County Awards Raytheon Contract for Public Safety Upgrades

Raytheon [RTN] has received a $12.5 million contract from Los Angeles County to replace all legacy emergency dispatch consoles with new ones that can be expanded for emerging public safety technologies such as Long Term Evolution, which is a high-speed, wireless broadband data network. Raytheon will replace the consoles for the sheriff and fire departments. Raytheon says that when the twin-screen consoles are in place public safety dispatchers will be able to see which units are available and have the shortest response time in handling both routine and emergency incidences. The company also says that the changes will improve interoperability with other jurisdictions. “These radio consoles are the first step to improving interoperability throughout the region,” says Capt. Scott Edson, commander of the Sheriff’s Department Communications and Fleet Management Bureau.

Bruker gets $4.8M from DoD for Chem Warfare Detectors

Bruker Corp. [BRKR] has received a $4.8 million contract from the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense for 40 additional systems of the RAID-S2 trace gas detector for the detection of chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals. The award was made under the Improved Point Detection System-Lifecycle Replacement program. Deliveries are expected to begin later this year and continue into 2013. The RAID-S2 is designed for long-term monitoring of ambient air for the presence of hazardous chemical vapors in the interior or exterior of ships, buildings or shelters. The Navy is the end user under the contract.

International Customers Order Quantum Sniffers from Implant

Implant Sciences Corp. [IMSC] has received orders from international customers for its handheld Quantum Sniffer QS-H150 explosive trace detector for air cargo and building security. The company has received a follow-on order from First Class Zollservice und Transportvermittlungs GmbH in Germany for air cargo screening. The German firm recently expanded its air cargo security capabilities with a mobile screening service that provide explosives trace detection on a fee-per-piece basis for air freight forwarders. The company purchased its first QS-H150 late last year as part of its mobile screening service and ordered a second device based on growing demand for the service. Implant also received a contract to provide multiple units of the QS-H150 to a back in Singapore. Implant says its device was selected because of its non-radioactive source, ease of use and lower total cost of ownership.
