Lockheed Martin Awarded $218M Contract for HC-130Js
Lockheed Martin [LMT] has received a $218 million contract for three HC-130H Super Hercules aircraft from the Coast Guard for long-range maritime patrol. Once the planes are delivered, scheduled for early 2015, the fleet of Coast Guard HC-130Js will rise to nine. The contract also includes funding for two mission packages to support search and rescue operations. The HC-130Js also provide heavy air transport for maritime and security teams.
TSA Awards Lockheed Martin $37M TWIC Bridge Contract
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded Lockheed Martin [LMT] a potential $36.8 million contract to continue to provide support services for the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program. The contract, which has a seven-month base period and two three-month options, was awarded on June 27 but wasn’t announced by the agency until this month. The bridge contract was awarded to allow a smooth transition to two new vendors for the program, Safran Group’s MorphoTrust USA, which won a nearly $250 million contract in March for Universal Enrollment Services, and Accenture [ACN], which won a $250 million contract to support TWIC thorough the Transportation Threat Assessment and Credentialing Infrastructure Modernization Program (HSR, April 11). Accenture’s contract was protested by IBM [IBM] and BAE Systems although TSA’s decision was eventually upheld and Accenture awarded its contract on Aug. 1. Lockheed Martin was the incumbent for TWIC, which was divided into two efforts as part of the recompetition.
NIST Awards Trusted Security Alliance $70M for Cyber and Info Security Work
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has awarded the Trusted Security Alliance, LLC, a potential five-year, $70 million contract to provide information security and cyber security services. Trusted Security Alliance has received an initial task order worth up to $13 million over five years. Trusted Security Alliance is a joint venture that includes Exeter Government Services. The contract was awarded by NIST’s Information Technology Laboratory Computer Security Division. The division will use the contractor support to help meet its mission to provide standards, technology, tools and practices.
SAIC Nabs Potential $52M Award to Support Center for Domestic Preparedness
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded Science Applications International Corp. [SAI] a potential five-year, $52 million contract to provide training delivery services in support of the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP). The award has a base year and four one-year options. The CDP identifies, develops, tests and delivers training to state, local and tribal emergency response providers, provides on-site and mobile training at the performance, management and planning levels, and facilitates the delivery of training by the training partners of the Department of Homeland Security SAIC was the incumbent for the work. The company will continue provide training delivery services including course delivery, chemical, ordnance, biological and radiological training facility instruction, instructor selection, training, certification and sustainment, equipment management and logistical support, and safety operations and management.
Army Awards UTC Division $50M Chem Bio Contract
The Army’s Aberdeen Proving Ground has awarded United Technologies Corp. [UTX] a $49.7 million contract for the final production and integrated logistics support of the Chemical Biological Mass Spectrometer II. The award is for 181 units to be ordered over a 35-month period. The CBMS II is a chemical and biological detection and identification system that is used on the Army’s Stryker and other military vehicles including the NBCRV and JSLNBCRS.
QinetiQ Receives Coast Guard Contracts Worth $27M
The Coast Guard has awarded QinetiQ’s North America division two task orders worth up to $27 million over five years for Oil Spill Claim Support Services and Data Migration and Documentation Services under the Contractor Technical and Administrative Support Services contract within the Coast Guard’s National Pollution Funds Center. The task orders are the first under the blanket purchase agreement contract. QinetiQ North America will provide the Coast Guard with surge support services for reviewing and processing oil spill claims made against the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund and will provide Data Migration and Documentation services for oil spill claims in order to properly archive claims and better facilitate the NFPCs movement toward electronic records. The work expands QNA’s mission support in the areas of claims processing to the Coast Guard.
AS&E gets International Orders
American Science and Engineering [ASEI] has received orders for its backscatter-based X-Ray scanning technology from customers in Latin America and the Asia Pacific Region. A customs agency in the Asia Pacific region has placed a follow-on order for two Z Backscatter Van C-Class systems for border security. The award is the fifth order that has been placed by the undisclosed customs agency. The order includes operator training, service and warranty. In the second order, a customs agency in Latin America will deploy the company’s Sentry Portal cargo screening system at a border crossing. The Sentry Portal allows for drive-through cargo inspection at high throughputs. The order is the first for a Sentry Portal in the undisclosed country, AS&E says.
Utility Selects Kratos for Cyber Security Help
Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. [KTOS] says its SecureInfo cyber security group has been selected by one of the country’s largest public power providers to help protect its information assets. Kratos says its SecureInfo RMS was selected after a competition between leading information security risk management software products. SecureInfo will install, configure, support and provide training and subject matter expertise for its RMS product across the utility’s enterprise. “SecureInfo continues to broaden its reach into the utility sector by helping enterprises meet their security and compliance objectives,” says Christopher Fountain, vice president of SecureInfo.
