ICE Awards CSC $54M for Background Investigations Work
CSC [CSC] has received a potential five-year, $54 million task order from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Office of Professional Responsibility to conduct employee and contractor background investigations. The company will conduct background investigations and deliver investigation reports on federal and contractor applicants, and also prepare reinvestigation reports to allow the government to establish suitability for employment. CSC says it will used its web-based case management application to manage workflow and assignments, and to house all related documents so that it can provide ICE with real-time access to case statuses. The task order was awarded under the General Services Administration Schedule 738X contract that CSC won in 2002.
Army Awards Chemring $29M for Chemical Detection Systems
Britain’s Chemring Group has received a $29 million contract from the U.S. Army to begin full rate production of the Joint Services Lightweight Standoff Chemical Agent Detector (JSLSCAD) system that will be installed in the Stryker Nuclear Biological Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle. Under the contract Chemring Detection Systems will deliver more than 100 JSLSCADs. The award was made by the Edgewood Contracting Division of the Aberdeen Proving Ground to Chemring Detection Systems. The Using a passive infrared detection system that automatically searches, JSLSCAD system can remotely detect and identify multiple chemical agent vapor clouds at standoff distances up to 2 kilometers. The system is designed to be used on-the-move.
Dynamis, Gryphon Scientific on Potential $10M Contract to Support FEMA
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded Dynamis, Inc., and Gryphon Scientific each a spot on a potential three-year, $9.5 million, small business indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract to provide subject matter experts (SMEs) for the agency’s Domestic Emergency Support Team and Nuclear Incident Response Team. The SMEs will support readiness operations and perform other support actions during exercises. The contract has a base year and two one-year options.
CBP Awards ManTech $9M for Support
ManTech International [MANT] has received a potential $9 million contract from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to provide program management and technical support to the Office of Field Operations, Non Intrusive Inspection division. The award has a one-year base period and four one-year options. “We are pleased to continue protecting the nation’s borders and facilitating the transition of advanced technologies,” says Terry Ryan, president and chief operating officer of ManTech’s Emerging Markets Group.
MorphoTrak to Supply Mass Police with Biometric ID System
Safran Group’s MorphoTrak business unit has been selected by the Massachusetts State Police to provide its MorphoBIS biometric identification system to the state. The MorphoBIS system integrates fingerprints and palm prints to enable high-volume searches throughout the commonwealth by federal, state and municipal agencies.
DHS S&T Awards $6M in Scientific Grants
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science & Technology (S&T) branch has announced $5.5 million in scientific leadership and career development grant awards to academic institutions. DHS awarded $2.8 million to Morgan State Univ., Elizabeth City State Univ., Texas A&M Univ., and Tuskegee Univ., for Scientific Leadership Awards, which focus on capacity development in specific high-priority research areas aligned with homeland security. The department is awarded $2.7 million in Career Development Awards to Stevens Institute of Technology, Univ. of Maryland, Rutgers Univ., Univ. of Southern California, Univ. of Pittsburgh, Univ. of Connecticut, George Mason Univ., Kansas State Univ., and the Univ. of Illinois. The Career Development Awards are made to four-year colleges and universities with existing programs in Homeland Security Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The grants allow the institutions to cover tuition and fees for scholars and fellows in addition to offering career-enhancing research opportunities.
Kratos Nabs $3M for Critical Infrastructure Security
Kratos Defense & Security Solutions [KTOS] has received a $3 million contract from an undisclosed global energy provider to design, engineer, deploy and integrate into a command and control infrastructure a specialized security system. The award is a follow-on and the third phase of a five-phase project. The third-phase will include specialized video surveillance technology and other security related elements. “Kratos is proud to have been selected for this unique and vitally important security system deployment and to continue our relationship with this key strategic customer,” says Ben Goodwin, president of the company’s Public Safety & Security Division.
