JPEO CBD Selects Five Small Firms for $500M ID/IQ Contract
The Joint Program Executive Office (JPEO) for Chemical and Biological Defense (CBD) has awarded a potential five-year, $500 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract to five companies to service the non-medical requirements for the office related to the purchase of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives equipment. The scope of the contract includes the Defense Department, Joint Military Services, and the Department of Homeland Security. The companies selected to compete for work under the contract are: Atlantic Diving Supply; Government Science Source; Murtech; Phoenix Group; and Veteran Corp. of America.
Coast Guard Awards BAH $40M for SETA Support
The Coast Guard has awarded Booz Allen Hamilton [BAH] a $39.8 million contract to provide systems engineering and technical assistance (SETA) support to the service’s Research and Development Center. ABS Consulting had been the incumbent on the contract.
AS&E Gets Orders for Air Cargo, Defense, Spanish Customs
American Science and Engineering [ASEI] has received an order from an undisclosed government agency in Asia for one Sentry Portal cargo screening to be used at an airport in Asia to inspect air cargo pallets and containers prior to being loaded onto an aircraft. The value of the award was not disclosed. The Sentry Portal provides high-penetration scanning at throughputs up to 150 trucks per hour. Separately, AS&E received a $2.2 million order from an international defense agency for the service and maintenance of X-Ray inspection systems. The company says the service contract keeps its customer’s inspection systems operating at peak performance in harsh environments. Finally, the company received an order for a Z Backscatter Van S-Class System for Spain Customs and Excise, its first for that country. The order is from the AS&E’s exclusive distributor in Spain, Indra Sistemas SA, and will be used by Customs and Excise on its borders fro trade fraud interdiction. The order is also the first for the ZBV S-Class, which offers a reduced operational footprint and a contemporary appearance.
Cubic Nabs $5M in Orders for Mesh Asset Tracking Technology in Afghanistan
Cubic Corp. [CUB] says its Cubic Global Tracking Solutions business has received three U.S. Army and General Services Administration contract worth a combined $4.8 million to expand its wireless mesh asset tracking technology to two U.S. bases in Afghanistan. The company will deploy thousands of its Mesh Asset Tags and its Web-based Device Management Center asset visibility system near Kandahar and Bagram for the tracking and processing of equipment being redeployed or returned home in the drawdown of troops from Afghanistan. Cubic is delivering the asset tracking technology to the Army Logistics Innovation Agency and Army Sustainment Command under a subcontract with ARINC, Inc., on the Next Generation Wireless Communications contract and the Army Mobility Asset Tracking System program. The solution, which allows logistics personnel to determine the precise location of any military vehicle through a database, is currently being used for yard management of vehicles at three bases in Kuwait. “The system reduces the amount of time spent looking for vehicles, and enables more efficient utilization of personnel, equipment, wash racks and inspection bays,” says Jim Kilfeather, vice president of Cubic Global Tracking Solutions. “As we draw down our forces in Afghanistan, there will be large movements of units and materials through the supply chains which are not always under U.S. control.”
TSA Awards PDRI $3M for EAMS Transition
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded Personnel Decision Research Institutes, Inc. (PDRI) a potential $2.6 million follow-on contract to allow time to transition the Employees Assessment Management System (EAMS) functionalities from the company’s solution to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Enterprise solution. The initial award is for $650,000 and the base-year value, if all options are exercised, is $800,000. In addition to the base-year, the follow-on contract has four six-month options. DHS is currently soliciting vendors to support an agency-wide Enterprise Talent Management (ETM) System, which is anticipated to become mandatory for all components to use for learning and performance management functionality. The system will also provide test management functionality equivalent to what is currently provided to the TSA by EAMS. The ETM contract is expected to be awarded and ready for TSA to begin work in the fall of 2013.
E3 Federal Solutions Nabs Second DHS TABSS ID/IQ
E3 Federal Solutions says it has received a second indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Technical and Business Support Services (TABSS) contract. The first award, under Domain 1, was for program management, engineering and technology support services. The second award, Domain 2, is for business management, financial management, and audit services. The company is the only small business to receive two TABSS ID/IQ awards. E3’s team for the Domain 2 award includes Barquin International, DLS Engineering Associates, Federal Management Systems, INTEGRITYOne Partners, George Mason Univ.’s Center for Infrastructure Protection, Glo Solutions, Inc., WBB, New River Systems, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, Tecolote Research, Inc., and VectorCSP.
