DHS Makes More Awards under EAGLE II Program
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) last month awarded 15 contracts under the small business track of Functional Category 2 of the EAGLE II program. Category 2 is the Information Technology Program Support Services, which provides the full range of business and technical management services in support of DHS offices or programs. The EAGLE II program has a maximum contract value of $22 billion over seven years. The small business awardees under Category 2 are: Ambit Group, LLC; Arc Aspicio, LLC; CLMS, LLC; eGlobalTech; Federal Working Group, Inc.; KeyLogic Systems, Inc.; LegalNet Works, Inc.; MBC EAGLE II Joint Venture; Quasars, Inc.; SiloSmashers, Inc.; Strategic Enterprise Solutions, Inc.; Technical and Management Resources, Inc.; Teracore, Inc.; Total Systems Technologies Corp.; and Zenetex, LLC.
HHS Awards CEMPRA $58M for R&D for CBRN Medical Countermeasures
The Department of Health and Human Services, Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, has awarded the pharmaceutical company CEMPRA [CEMP] a $58.5 million contract for the advanced research, development of medical countermeasures for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats toward eventual Food and Drug Administration approval. Under the contract, CEMPRA will test solithromycin against anthrax and tularemia in animal models and develop a formulation that may be used in pediatric populations.
CBP Awards CSC $10M Task Order for Services
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has awarded CSC [CSC] a $10.4 million bridge task order to provide a range of software design, development, implementation, and integration services including concept development, planning, requirements definition and analysis, system design and development, coding and testing, production and software application maintenance to the Passenger Systems Program Office. The task order is being let under the EAGLE contract. The agency is awarding the task order to CSC, which is the incumbent for the required services, as a bridge until a recompete of the contract is completed. The task order runs until Aug. 26 and contains two three-month options. A new award is planned for the fourth quarter of FY ’13.
Smiths Detection Nabs Award to Upgrade Hold Baggage System in New Zealand
Smiths Detection has received a contract with the New Zealand Aviation Security Service to upgrade Hold Baggage Screening (HBS) X-Ray systems across New Zealand to the European Union Standard 2. The contract is for a software upgrade, which will be completed later this year. The HBS fleet in New Zealand was installed by Smiths Detection in 2005. “I am extremely proud that Smiths Detection has been selected to provide the technical solution to meet the Civil Aviation Authority’s aviation security needs,” says Cameron Mann, managing director of Smiths Detection Australia and New Zealand. “Our EDX-2is Explosive Detection System is the most widely deployed EU Standard 2 screening system in the world, and Smiths Detection has a dedicated service team based in Auckland and Christchurch to maintain the systems.”
G4S Nabs $6M Armed Security Officers Contract with DHS
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Protective Service has awarded G4S Government Solutions, Inc., a $5.8 million contract to provide armed protective security officer services in New York.
