Metal Shark’s Response Boat-Small Award from Coast Guard Worth $192 Million

Metal Shark Boats says the value of its recent award to supply the Coast Guard with a new fleet of Response Boat-Small (RB-S) vessels is worth up to $192 million over 10 years. Metal Shark received a $13 million task order in late September to supply the service with its first 38 RB-S, beating competitor SAFE Boats International for the contract. The total value of the award was not disclosed at the time. The award covers 470 28-foot RB-S for the Coast Guard, 20 for Customs and Border Protection and 10 for the Navy. The Coast Guard will use the vessels for port and waterways security, search and rescue, drug and migrant interdiction, environmental and other law enforcement missions. Metal Shark, a subsidiary of Gravois Aluminum Boats, LLC, says it plans to expand its 65,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Louisiana and increase its production team to better manage the increase in manufacturing requirements under the contract. The RB-S is road transportable for service between missions and is also C-130 transportable.

Raytheon Nabs ICE Contract to Modernize Case Management System

Raytheon [RTN] says it has received a contract from Immigration and Customs Enforcement to develop a modernized investigative case management system to replace the agency’s legacy system. Raytheon says it will create a Web-enabled system that will bring enhanced investigative case management features to ICE agents through various channels, including mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones. The system will also be designed to interface with more than 100 disparate databases from across the Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies for improved information sharing and interagency collaboration. Raytheon’s team members include Booz-Allen Hamilton [BAH], CSC [CSC], Kurrent Logic, Kore Federal, and Blackstone Technology Group.

Coast Guard Awards Eaton $20M Engineering Services Contract

Eaton Corp. has received a potential 66-month, $20 million contract from the Coast Guard to provide electrical infrastructure preventative maintenance services for up to 12 cutters in San Diego, Seattle, San Francisco and Hawaii. The services include circuit breaker retrofits and replacement, and power service inspection and testing. “This is a great opportunity for Eaton to support the Coast Guard through our operational maintenance expertise,” says Ken Narod, director, Government Sales and Solutions at Eaton.

Air Force Awards ManTech $7M for Cyber Support

ManTech International [MANT] has received a potential two-year, $7.1 million task order to provide the Air Force 90th Information Operations Squadron with software solutions that support Air Force Cyber Command’s cyber defense technology development, integration and fielding support services. The award was made under the Alliant Government-Wide Acquisition Contract.

GSA Awards Entrust $5M for Hosted PKI Agreement

The General Services Administration (GSA) has awarded Entrust a four-year, $4.5 million contract to continue providing hosted Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services and digital certificates as the security infrastructure for Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 initiatives. Entrust has provided managed PKI solutions and services for the GSA’s credentialing program since 2007. The company was part of a team led by Electronic Data Systems, now owned by HP [HPQ], to lead the HSPD-12 managed service offering. Entrust’s new contract is directly with the GSA. The company says its PKI has protected the digital identities of more than 500,000 federal employees over the past four years. Entrust provides authenticated credentials to federal employees and contractors at more than 90 government agencies, most of whom leverage smartcard-based credentials, coupled with PKI digital certificates, for physical access to secure government facilities and logical access to protected desktops and networks.

RedXDefense Getting Orders from Navy for XPAK

The Navy’s Maritime Expeditionary Security Group is ordering RedXDefense’s XPAK G2 portable explosives detection systems to conduct anti-terrorism and force protection missions worldwide, including for harbor and homeland defense, coastal surveillance and special missions. The value of the award and the numbers of devices being purchased was not disclosed. The G2 is a new version of the XPAK, which is now capable of detecting homemade explosives in addition to the military-grade explosives that the original device was designed to detect. The G2 also is more rugged. RedX is a subcontractor to ADS, Inc., for the procurement. The XPAK is being used by foreign militaries, the U.S. military, civilian and private sector customers.

Implant Nabs More International Orders for Handheld Detector

Implant Sciences [IMSC] has received several new international orders for its handheld Quantum Sniffer QS-H150 explosives trace detector, including for a new customer in Uzbekistan for airport security. The sale in Uzbekistan is through the company’s new regional distributor, U.S.-based PS, LLC. Separately, Implant has sold its QS-H150 to a new customer in India for security screening at Nasik Airport. This marks the third airport in India using the device for security. The company has also sold QS-H150s to Japan for critical infrastructure protection at a nuclear power plant and to Taiwan for law enforcement. Implant says the order from Japan brings the company’s installed base of explosives trace detectors there to over $1 million.
