OSI Systems Nabs $48M in International Orders for Inspection Systems
OSI Systems [OSIS] says its Rapiscan Systems division has received orders worth about $46 million from customers in the Middle East and Africa to provide multiple units of its baggage and parcel screening systems, and Eagle cargo and vehicle inspection systems. For the customers in the Middle East Rapiscan will be providing baggage and parcel inspection, and the Eagle cargo and vehicle inspection systems. For Africa, the company will be providing Eagle cargo inspection systems. OSI didn’t disclose the customers or the specific Eagle systems, which come in multiple configurations on fixed or mobile platforms. The company also received a $2.4 million order to provide multiple units of its body scanners and X-Ray systems to screen people and their carry-on bags for checkpoint solutions at an international airport in the Middle East.
Morpho Detection Receives Follow-On Order from Air Canada for ETDs
Safran Group’s Morpho Detection business says Air Canada Cargo has purchased additional Itemiser DX explosives trace detectors to replace legacy systems and maintain compliance with the country’s air cargo screening regulations. Morpho Detection first supplied Itemiser DX systems to Air Canada in 2014. “Itemiser DX has performed well in the field and as a result, Air Canada will deploy additional units to meet the growing needs of our cargo business,” says Lise-Marie Turpin, vice president of Cargo, Air Canada. “In addition to the detection capability of the Itemiser DX, Morpho’s service teams have helped us realize maximum uptime and reliability through a proactive field maintenance program.” Morpho has supplied more than 5,000 Itemiser DX desktop systems worldwide.
Implant Sciences Nabs More European Orders
Continuing its hot streak in Europe, Implant Sciences [IMSC] has announced new orders with airports in Finland, Belgium and Cyprus. The company says Finish airports have purchased 58 QS-B220 desktop explosives trace detectors that will be deployed during the next few months. Implant has also received an order from a second airport in Belgium to provide 13 of its QS-B220 desktop explosives trace detectors (ETD). Implant says the order was a competitive win. In the past two months Implant has sold more than 500 ETDs to customers in six countries in Europe. The QS-B220 isn’t the lowest priced offering, the company says, “But we have found that, when we go head to head with our competitors in these EU airport trials, we have been selected as the optimal vendor nearly every time. Our strategy and execution has been nothing short of relentless, and our next-generation technology continues to be adopted by major customers,” says Darryl Jones, Implant’s VP of Global Sales and Marketing. Bill McGann, the company’s CEO, says “We believe Implant Sciences’ superior product offering and service are impacting the ETD landscape, and our satisfied customers are recognizing us as the emerging market leaders.” Separately, the company sold eight of the QS-B220 detectors to Paphos and Larnaca International Airports in Cyprus, which will be subject to upcoming European Union ETD regulations.
DHS Awards ManTech $29M to Support S&T Directorate
ManTech International [MANT] has received a potential three-year, $29.2 million task order from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide systems engineering services to the Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate. The task order has a one-year base period and two one-year options and was awarded under the Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance II contract. Services under the task order include development and assessments of program requirements, concepts of operations, and alternatives, cost-performance tradeoff, and life-cycle cost analyses. “ManTech has long been a quality provider of engineering, IT and cyber solutions to DHS, and we are honored to be selected provide our systems engineering solutions in support of their important missions,” says Daniel Keefe, president and chief operating officer of ManTech’s Mission Solutions & Services Group.
DHS Awards Triple Canopy $48M for Guard Services
Triple Canopy, Inc. has received a $47.9 million contract from the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Protective Service to provide protective security officer services throughout Oklahoma. Triple Canopy is part of Constellis Group, which provides complementary advisory, security, and training and managed support services to organizations worldwide through a family of companies.
Rockwell Collins gets $12M from Coast Guard to Help with HC-144 Upgrade
The Coast Guard is upgrading its HC-144A Ocean Sentry medium-range maritime patrol aircraft by replacing the cockpit control and display unit, which is used in flight management. Once the technology refresh is done, the aircraft will be designated the HC-144B. As part of the upgrade project, the Coast Guard awarded Rockwell Collins [COL] a $12 million contract to cover the upgrade of two HC-144A aircraft, one for prototyping and the other for validation and verification. The Coast Guard has a fleet of HC-144 is built by Airbus Group. Once the new configuration is approved, the Coast Guard plans to upgrade the remaining aircraft with components supplied by Rockwell Collins.
