DISA Awards SAIC Potential $21M Task Order for Info Assurance Support
The Pentagon’s Defense Information Systems Agency, Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization, has awarded Science Applications International Corp. [SAI] a potential $21 million prime task order to provide information assurance (IA) training support to the Defense Department. The award was made under DISA’s ENCORE II indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract and has a one-year base period and four one-year options. SAIC will develop and deliver IA education, training and awareness products to help DoD continue to meet all DoD and federal cyber security requirements. SAIC will also provide technical support to DISA’s public key infrastructure support program.
Lockheed Martin to Provide Additional Bio-Sensor to Japanese Forces
The Japan Self Defense Forces have exercised an option on an existing contract with Lockheed Martin [LMT] for an additional Enhanced Biological Aerosol Warning Systems (EBAWS) that will be used by the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense Units. EBAWS consists of an array of networked, remote sensors with provide an early warning of the possible presence of a hazardous biological aerosol cloud. In addition to the biological aerosol detection capability, each remote sensor measures wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, location data and has the capability to collect an air sample for subsequent agent confirmation and identification.
Telcordia Technologies to get $9.2M from Air Force for Cyber Effort
The Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, N.Y., has issued a Justification and Approval for Other Than Full and Open Competition notice that it plans to award Telcordia Technologies, Inc., a $9.2 million research and development contract under the Dynamic Quarantine of Worms Program. The contract is for 16 months and has $6.4 million in FY ’09, $2.6 million in FY ’10, and $200,000 in FY ’11. The Dynamic Quarantine of Worms program began in FY ’03 with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, which awarded contracts to Telcordia and later BAE Systems, through its acquisition of Alphatech. In 2007 DARPA downselected to Telcordia and awarded the firm another contract.
Army Awards ICx $1.1M for Advanced Sampling Systems for Canines
The Army Material Command has awarded ICx Technologies [ICXT] a $1.1 million contract to develop, design and deliver an advanced high volume sampler prototype to deliver traces of explosives to canines. The contract was awarded to the company’s Nomadics business unit.
Coast Guard Awards Small Contract to BAE for Automated Scene Understanding
BAE Systems has received a $500,000 contract from the Coast Guard’s Research and Development Center to develop and deliver improved software, test and evaluation results, operational performance data and technical documentation for the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate’s Automated Scene Understanding concept evaluation software systems. The software system has completed development by BAE under a DHS Advanced Research Projects Agency Automated Scene Understanding prototype and demonstration program. The new contract will support the transition of the concept evaluation software system to the Coast Guard for possible use in mitigating technological risk in the future acquisition by the service of technologies for use in enhancing port and coastal maritime security.
ARINC Delivers Advance Passenger Info Service to Costa Rican Immigration
ARINC Inc. has deployed its Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) messaging system to the Costa Rican Immigration Agency. APIS provides pre-arrival and pre-departure manifest data on all passengers and crew. ARINC is Costa Rica’s second message service provider, allowing airlines an alternative provider to send APIS messages, therefore adding price competitiveness. ARINC is a portfolio company of the private equity firm The Carlyle Group.
